Fortnite 8.50 PATCH NOTES for Avengers Endgame update: Captain America, Iron Man and more - Express

developer Epic Games has released patch notes for update 8.50.

With the game offline on PS4, Xbox One, PC, iOS, Nintendo Switch and Android, Epic Games has launched Fortnite's latest update.

As you can see from the 8.50 patch notes below, the headline new feature is the Avengers Endgame event, which sees Thanos and his army invade the Battle Royale island in search of the six Infinity Stones.

"Endgame features a team of heroes fighting to stop Thanos and his Chitauri from claiming all six Infinity Stones," read the Epic post.

Heroes start with a treasure map leading to a Mythic Avengers item. The aim is to equip these items and destroy Thanos and his army.

Chitauri Invaders, on the other hand, start with a powerful laser rifle, an anti-structure grenade attack, and a jetpack that lets them briefly leap high into the air.

The first Chitauri to recover an Infinity stone will be transformed into Thanos. Finding additional stones increases Thanos' power.

The Thanos team wins by claiming all of the Infinity Stones and eliminating all enemies.

WEAPONS + ITEMS

Bug Fixes & Improvements

• The Hold to Swap functionality is now confirmed upon releasing the Use button rather than when initially pressing it.

• This should help with the issue of accidentally swapping.

• If a player is eliminated by fall damage while inside a vehicle, the player that last damaged that vehicle will receive the credit for that elimination.

• Re-enabled hit markers to be server-side authoritative instead of client-side.

• This will help prevent instances where players see hit markers but no damage.

• Players that were Rebooted into Rifts were teleporting into the sky but would not enter skydiving mode.

• Vehicles weren’t getting impulsed away from the Reboot Van.

• Collision for the Reboot Van was not affecting some vehicles, allowing them to hide inside of the Reboot Van.

• The Reboot Card was still playing its spawn sound even if the player disconnected.

• Dropping inventory items while in vehicles with weapons is now blocked to prevent various camera issues.

• Traps were occasionally being placed in the middle of a tile rather than against a wall when using Builder Pro.

• When exiting vehicles, the equip animation will now always play before weapons can be fired.

• This will prevent the issue where players would occasionally see themselves fire right after exiting a vehicle before the server had time to register the shot.

• The elimination feed text will no longer display the “eliminated by ally” message if an ally interrupts a player reboot animation.

• Fall damage was being taken when using a Jetpack (in supported Limited Time Modes) after being launched from the Pirate Cannon.

• Players were not able to negate fall damage using a Flintlock Pistol while crouching.

• Players couldn’t see the nameplates of party member’s Reboot Cards in the UI.

• Players would not drop a Reboot Card if they were eliminated after confirming a Reboot but before their teammate actually spawned.

PSA: There’s no Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene, but here’s why you should stay ‘til the end anyway - GamesRadar

So, there’s no Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene. Let’s get that out of the way right off the bat. Sure, it sounds deflating – especially as it’s a trope that Marvel has introduced and perfected over the years across 21 movies – but we can confirm that there’s no traditional stinger or set-up for Phase 4 of the MCU. However, we do get something else in place of an Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene. While there’s no plot spoilers for Endgame below, you might want to go in completely fresh if you haven’t seen the movie yet.

Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene

No shawarma meet-up, no Big Bad tease, and definitely no X-Men cameo. We all had different things in mind for a potential Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene, but Marvel Studios had another one entirely. Nothing. This was the end in so many ways, and that extends to the movie itself.

Once the end scene has finished, there’s a roll-call of all of the main actors who appear in the movie, complete with a really cool tribute to each, that is well worth staying for. It’s also as close to an Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene as you’ll get.

That’s because, after that, you get your traditional long (and I mean long: rumour has it you’re never more than six feet away from someone who worked on Avengers: Endgame) list of staff credits before the Marvel Studios logo hits and the lights come up. Basically, you’re free to go once the main cast stuff is out the way, if you so please.

But you shouldn’t. This is a celebration of everyone who made Avengers: Endgame possible. From the chefs, to the helicopter pilots, to any other role you might think of. It just goes to show how much hard work and effort from top to bottom goes into such a production, and not sitting through it feels a little cheap.

Plus, there’s a small audio cue that comes with the final Marvel Studios logo. It’s not setting up anything, nor does it seem to be a hint at a future character arriving in the MCU, but it serves as a nice bookend to the MCU as a whole. To say more would be approaching spoiler territory, but it’s pretty cool nonetheless if you want the complete experience.

TL;DR? There’s no Avengers: Endgame post-credits scene, the actual credits are super long so you can go for a bathroom break, and there’s one tiny moment to listen out for at the very end – but don’t expect anything too shocking.

Lori Loughlin and Husband 'Didn't Realize That What They Were Doing Was Illegal': Source - Yahoo Entertainment

Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli didn’t fully grasp that their alleged bribery in the college admissions scandal was illegal, a source familiar with the case tells PEOPLE.

“You read the complaint and they look like criminal masterminds,” the source tells PEOPLE. “But they really didn’t know the legalities of what was going on. They’re not lawyers and they’re not experts. They were parents who simply wanted to make sure that their daughters got into a good school.”

The source tells PEOPLE that Loughlin and Giannulli truly believed that their actions were comparable to those of other parents who take extraordinary steps to help their their children get into upper-tier colleges.

“Calling in favors, donating money to the alumni association, hiring consultants. Those are all things that parents do,” says the source. “And so they gave money to this consultant, not entirely knowing everything that was going to be done. When it all fell apart, nobody was as surprised as they were that they were in trouble.”

The source continues, “She never intended to break any laws, and if she did, it was inadvertent.”

On March 12, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Massachusetts announced it had charged 50 people, including Loughlin and Giannulli, in the cheating scandal. The actress, along with coaches, admissions counselors and parents were accused of such alleged crimes as falsifying SAT scores and lying about the athletic skills of their children.

Loughlin allegedly wanted her daughters to get into the University of Southern California so badly that she and Giannulli allegedly paid approximately $500,000 in bribes to falsely designate their daughters as recruits to the USC crew team — despite the fact that they did not participate in crew.

The criminal complaint against them alleged the couple devised a plan to “present their younger daughter, falsely, as a crew coxswain for the L.A. Marina Club team, and requested that the Giannullis’s send an ‘Action Picture,’ asking a few days later for a picture on the ‘erg’ — or rowing machine, which Giannulli did a few days later.”

“I get how it looks on paper,” says the source, “And they’ve been embarrassed and horrified to see what people are saying about them. Although they dispute certain parts of the complaint, they acknowledge that they were naive about what the laws were in this case.”

Earlier this month, both Loughlin, 54, and Giannulli, 55, pleaded not guilty to the charges they face: mail fraud and money laundering conspiracy. If convicted, they face up to 20 years in prison for each charge.

According to the source, the couple didn’t intend to do anything illegal. “When they fight this, they’re going to give a lot more nuance and mitigating circumstances that will help put their alleged actions into context,” the source says. “The bottom line is that they just didn’t realize that what they were doing was illegal.”

Reps for Loughlin and Giannulli have not returned PEOPLE’s calls for comment.

The Oscars decides Netflix is ok after all, following DOJ warning - Ars Technica

Netflix and other streaming platforms won't be banned from the Oscars as the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has rejected calls from Steven Spielberg and others to restrict eligibility for the annual awards.

The Academy's Board of Governors approved rules for the February 2020 Oscars and left the eligibility requirement unchanged. Just as before, feature-length films must be shown for at least one week in a Los Angeles County theater to be eligible, a requirement Netflix-backed movies such as Roma met on their way to winning awards. Proposals to require theater runs of at least four weeks were rejected.

"We support the theatrical experience as integral to the art of motion pictures, and this weighed heavily in our discussions," Academy President John Bailey said in an announcement yesterday. "Our rules currently require theatrical exhibition, and also allow for a broad selection of films to be submitted for Oscars consideration. We plan to further study the profound changes occurring in our industry and continue discussions with our members about these issues."

The unchanged rule maintains eligibility for films released on non-theatrical media (e.g., online streaming services, broadcast or cable TV, DVDs) "on or after the first day of their Los Angeles County theatrical qualifying run." The required seven-day theatrical run must include "at least three screenings per day for paid admission." As before, films will not be eligible if they "receive their first public exhibition or distribution in any manner other than as a theatrical motion picture release."

The Academy was under pressure from the federal government to leave the rule unchanged. The US Department of Justice's antitrust division warned the Academy in a letter last month that shutting out streaming-only movies may violate antitrust law.

"In the event that the Academy—an association that includes multiple competitors in its membership—establishes certain eligibility requirements for the Oscars that eliminate competition without procompetitive justification, such conduct may raise antitrust concerns," DOJ antitrust chief Makan Delrahim told the Academy at the time.

Spielberg wants theaters “to remain relevant”

A Spielberg spokesperson told IndieWire in February this year that the famed director planned to support an effort to restrict eligibility for films primarily distributed via streaming platforms like Netflix. Spielberg had said in March 2018 that "once you commit to a television format, you're a TV movie," and that such a movie might deserve an Emmy "but not an Oscar." Movies that merely meet the "token" qualification of one week in a theater shouldn't be eligible for the Oscars, he said at the time.

Spielberg is a member of the Academy's Board of Governors, but he reportedly didn't attend yesterday's meeting and has remained silent about the matter over the past couple months. A New York Times article yesterday said that "Mr. Spielberg's animosity toward Netflix appears to have been acutely overstated."

"I want people to find their entertainment in any form or fashion that suits them," whether on the "big screen" or "small screen," Spielberg told the Times.

"However, I feel people need to have the opportunity to leave the safe and familiar of their lives and go to a place where they can sit in the company of others and have a shared experience—cry together, laugh together, be afraid together—so that when it's over they might feel a little less like strangers," he continued. "I want to see the survival of movie theaters. I want the theatrical experience to remain relevant in our culture."

Steven Spielberg says his battle with Netflix wasn't as bad as people made it seem - CNBC

Netflix and other streaming platforms solidified their stature in the film industry Tuesday when the Academy of Motion Picture and Arts and Sciences voted to maintain their eligibility for the Academy Awards. The Academy voted to keep a rule that allows any film that has at least a seven-day theatrical run in a Los Angeles theater to be considered for an Oscar.

The anticlimactic vote seemed to close a chapter on a reported feud between the tech giant and legendary Hollywood director Steven Spielberg. But a New York Times report suggests Spielberg's antipathy for streaming services like Netflix was overblown.

"I want people to find their entertainment in any form or fashion that suits them," Spielberg told the Times in an emailed statement. "Big screen, small screen — what really matters to me is a great story and everyone should have access to great stories.

"However, I feel people need to have the opportunity to leave the safe and familiar of their lives and go to a place where they can sit in the company of others and have a shared experience — cry together, laugh together, be afraid together — so that when it's over they might feel a little less like strangers. I want to see the survival of movie theaters. I want the theatrical experience to remain relevant in our culture."

Netflix made its award-winning film "Roma" available to theaters leading up to the event, but still rubbed some theater-owners the wrong way by refusing to honor the traditional exclusive 90-day window before releasing the film on its own service.

While Spielberg says he is concerned for the future of movie theaters and the experience of watching films, the Times reported that the director feels that his view of streaming platforms has been misrepresented, according to people close to him. The sources told the Times that Spielberg is actually more frustrated with theater owners who have refused to compromise on the 90-day exclusivity rule to play films like Netflix's "Roma."

AMC Theatres and Regal Cinemas shut "Roma" out of its showing for best picture contenders leading up to the Academy Awards even after Spielberg asked them to play the film despite it already being available on Netflix, according to the Times.

Spielberg's production company Amblin Partners and the talent agency representing him did not immediately respond to requests for comment from CNBC. Netflix also did not immediately return a request for comment.

Martha Stewart says she feels sorry for Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin - Page Six

Martha Stewart “feels sorry” for actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, who are embroiled in the college admissions scandal.

The business mogul was at the Time 100 gala in New York City on Tuesday when she was asked by “Entertainment Tonight” what type of advice she may have for Loughlin and Huffman “about what may be to come” for the two women.

“I just feel sorry for them and they might have made a bad mistake,” Stewart replied.

Stewart, 77, served time in prison after she was convicted on numerous felony charges. She served five months at a women’s prison in Alderson, W.Va., in 2004. Stewart opened up on her prison stay to Katie Couric in 2017.

“But no one should have to go through that. It’s a very, very awful thing,” she told Couric.

Loughlin and her fashion designer husband, Mossimo Giannulli, pleaded not guilty last week to charges that they paid $500,000 in bribes to get their daughters into the University of Southern California.

Huffman agreed to plead guilty to a single charge of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud. She is slated to appear in Boston on May 21 to enter her plea.

Prosecutors have said they will seek a prison sentence on the low end of four to 10 months for Huffman, who was charged with paying $15,000 to boost her daughter’s SAT score.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

New Fortnite X Avengers Iron Man teaser released - FortniteINTEL

Fortnite X Avengers will arrive on April 25th and Epic Games has just released an all new teaser for the event. Iron Man is headed to Fortnite.

Earlier during the week, Epic Game began revealing heroes that will make an appearance during the Fortnite X Avengers limited time event. So far, Captain America and Thor have received teaser images via Twitter.

The signature shield of the Captain and the Stormbreaker Axe were shown off via Twitter. Now, Epic has blessed us with another small look at what we can expect from the event.

Iron Man is coming to Fortnite

In a new tweet on Wednesday morning, Epic revealed a new hero coming for the Fortnite X Avengers event. Or at least they confirmed the appearance of his signature suit gauntlets.

The image shows Raptor wielding parts of Iron Man’s suit and getting ready to fire beams of energy. He could also be getting ready to fly.

We imagine that more of the suit may be available in the final release, but all of the teaser images so far have only showed weapons used by heroes rather than the heroes themselves.

We’ll just have to wait and see for what the in-game uses of these new items will be.

As with the other leaks, the chances of these items appearing in the regular game modes or Arena is very minimal. Epic Games learned their lessons with the addition of the Infinity Blade and these super powered weapons will most likely appear in an LTM.

No details have been released about how the event will play out. We project that an LTM will arrive on April 25th with potential skin releases as well.

During the Thanos event, Epic Games did state that they would not add Marvel skins to the game at that time. With that said, the money that Marvel and Epic could make from producing joint skin sales is astronomical.

If you haven’t had a chance to see the two other teasers, we’ve included them here to help you out. The teasers, as mentioned before, feature Thor’s Stormbreaker and Captain America signature shield.

You can also check out full teaser reveal articles for both the Stormbreak Axe and Captian America’s shield.
