The news comes after Williams was spotted without her wedding band at several public outings.
"Michelle and Phil separated at the beginning of the year. It was an amicable spilt and they remain friends," a source close to the situation told People.
Williams, 38, revealed her marriage to Elverum, 40, in a July 2018 interview with Vanity Fair, sharing that they had quietly tied the knot in the Adirondacks earlier that month.
"Obviously I've never once in my life talked about a relationship," she said, telling the outlet that the indie musician moved from Washington to Brooklyn, New York, to live with her. "But Phil isn't anyone else. And that's worth something."
"Ultimately the way he loves me is the way I want to live my life on the whole," she added. "I work to be free inside of the moment. I parent to let Matilda feel free to be herself, and I am finally loved by someone who makes me feel free."
The pair was photographed for the first time together in upstate New York last September.
Williams was previously in a relationship with Heath Ledger, who died in 2008 following an accidental drug overdose. The pair shared a now 13-year-old daughter, Matilda. Elverum's marriage to Williams was his second. He was previously married to Genevieve Castree, who died in 2016. The two shared a now 3-year-old daughter, Agathe.

Kardashian fans couldn’t help but notice one surprising
guest at Kourtney’s 40th birthday party recently: her ex-husband,
Scott Disick. And it wasn’t even that surprising to see him on the guest list.
The pair has a history of peaceful coexistence and sharing the responsibility
of raising
their children together. They might not be together anymore, but Kourtney
and Scott even go on vacations together along. It’s almost too surreal to be
true.
Meanwhile, other members of the Kar-Jenner clan haven’t had such
an easy time finding common ground with their exes. Khloe Kardashian and
Tristan Thompson split a few
months ago after multiple incidents of infidelity, including that one time
with Kylie Jenner’s best friend, Jordyn Woods. Thomspon did make a cameo at his
and Khloe’s daughter’s first birthday party, but it was super awkward for all involved.
So how do Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick make their
unique situation work? It’s a simple matter of adulting.
They want to set a good example for other parents
When Kourtney and Scott first
hooked up in 2006 at a Girls Gone Wild
Party in Mexico, neither one of them had any clue they’d eventually become the
standard for successful co-parenting while separated, yet here we are. The pair
broke up, got back together, had a baby, broke up, got back together, had
another baby, and then another, and all the while kept the drama going. The
pair called it quits for good in 2015.
Now the two are definitely
separated and Scott even has a long-term girlfriend, Sofia Richie. But somehow
everyone manages to get along and not act petty or jealous of one another.
“I feel like I can show a message, too, of like, parents can
get along and work together and we travel together,” Kourtney explained
on The Today Show. “I think it’s a good message to show other people. I am not
doing it for that reason, but I think the positive things that we are doing is
nice too.”

Kourtney and Scott set boundaries
Every relationship is different and that’s fine, but each couple
is responsible for setting well-defined rules that work for them. For example, there’s
one strict rule that Scott Disick must follow when he’s in Kourtney’s house.
In a 2018 episode of Keeping
Up With the Kardashians, Kourtney tells Scott he shouldn’t be going into
her bedroom without permission. Disick agreed,
saying: “There’s obviously some
boundaries that we both need to respect, and I don’t want you to be
uncomfortable.”
One boundary the former lovers is willing to cross? Vacationing
together. Scott Disick, his girlfriend Sofia Richie, and the couple’s three
children Mason, 8, Penelope, 5, and Reign, 3 all embarked on a Mexican getaway
together. It may seem weird, but it works for them.
They don’t make it weird
At the end of the day, life is unpredictable and the only way
to deal with that is go with the flow. Kourtney and Scott both realize that raising
their children to be happy, healthy people is more important than vendettas or revenge
scandals.
As Kourtney Kardashian said on Instagram for Thanksgiving
2018, “I woke up this morning in bed with my children,
in the same house as my sisters (minus @khloekardashian), my brothers, the
father of my kids, my mommy, my grandma, my nieces and nephew. I feel beyond
grateful.”
Olivia Jade isn't letting the college admissions scandal get in her way of having fun.
The 19-year-old beauty guru was spotted laughing and smiling at a house party on Thursday, in videos posted to YouTube star Heath Hussar's Instagram Stories.

The party went down at YouTube star David Dobrik's home in Studio City, California, just one day after a source told ET that Olivia is "terrified" of the idea of having to testify against her parents, actress Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, in court. The two have been accused of paying $500,00 in bribes to get Olivia and her older sister, 20-year-old Isabella, into the University of Southern California by deeming them as recruits to the crew team, a sport they've never participated in. Loughlin and Giannulli both pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this week.
Late last month, ET spoke with Dobrik on the red carpet at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards, where he gave us an update on how his friend, Olivia, has been holding up amid the ongoing scandal.
"I haven't gotten to talk to her a lot, but she's a sweet, smart girl so I'm sure she's holding up good," Dobrik said at the time. "I wish [her] the best. It's the worst to get [wrapped up] in anything bad."

The Algerian model, who dated the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star from 2016 to 2018, was a guest at her 40th birthday bash in LA Thursday.
Bendjima, 25, posted a photo on his Instagram Stories of a napkin that read, “Happy Birthday Kourt!” He also shared a video of him and a friend dancing with the caption, “ya know what time it is.”
Another party guest, businessman Philip Riportella, shared a photo of Bendjima and Kardashian posing with a group of friends that included Riportella and Kardashian’s BFF Simon Huck. In the pic, Bendjima casually placed his arm around his ex’s shoulder.
Bendjima and Kardashian have not confirmed that they are back together, but Bendjima has recently been showing signs that he is trying to win the reality star back.
On New Year’s Eve, Bendjima paid tribute to his ex in a 2018 recap, writing over a photo of Kardashian, “Let’s not forget about this beautiful woman inside and out, I’m not the type of man that forget[s] moments like that.”
However, Bendjima was not the only ex invited to Kardashian’s party. Her once rumored fling, Luka Sabbat, and Scott Disick, the father of her three kids, were also present.
Embattled star, and daughter of Lori Loughlin, Olivia Jade Giannulli was spotted partying with fellow YouTube celebrities in California.
Jade hasn’t had much of a public presence since being implicated in the ongoing college admissions scandal that’s shown the lengths status-seeking parents will go to in order to secure their children a spot at coveted universities. Her parents, Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, are accused of spending $500,000 on each of their daughters to make them look like recruits on the USC crew team despite never actually rowing in the sport.
According to TMZ, Jade was spotted at the home of YouTube star David Dobrik Thursday night in Studio City, CA. The outlet reports that Jade was having fun, but being careful not to give more ammunition for public scrutiny by reportedly asking the group to avoid using cell phones.

However, YouTuber Heath Hussar posted a video of some hijinx in the home’s kitchen that show Jade in the background partying it up and having a good time.
Jade’s status is reportedly on hold at USC following her parents pleading not guilty to charges of money laundering and mail fraud related to their role in the nationwide college admissions scandal. Jade previously made comments about not really wanting to be in school in favor of fostering her career as a YouTube star. She has about 2 million followers on the site as well as 1.4 million Instagram followers, but, she’s been avoiding the public eye on both accounts since news of the scandal broke.
