Ariana Grande Opened Up About Her Sexuality And It's Obviously Started A Debate On Twitter - BuzzFeed

In case you missed it, Ariana Grande released new song "Monopoly" on Monday, a collaboration with her best friend Victoria Monét.

According to Ariana, it's all about "friendship, freedom, protecting your energy and staying right in your bag".

However, one lyric in particular — "I like women and men" — has caught the attention of pretty much everybody, with people assuming that Ariana is opening up about her sexuality.

Obviously, people immediately started to freak out.

Things only stepped up a gear when Victoria, who previously came out as liking men and women last year, responded to an Instagram comment.

And everything went into meltdown when Ariana waded into the conversation herself, saying she doesn't feel the need to label her sexuality.

Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Ariana liked these tweets about sexuality being fluid.

Of course, the whole thing sparked a massive conversation on Twitter. In fact, it seemed to be all anybody could talk about.

Labels and coming out shouldn’t even be a thing but anyways I’m so proud of Ariana and I’m glad she feels comfortable tweeting us about her sexuality now even though she’s never needed to

Fans immediately recalled the drama surrounding Ariana headlining Manchester Pride this year, which some people weren't happy with because they assumed she was straight.

Others weren't so sure that the lyric was a confession and instead thought it might be Ariana's way of supporting Victoria, who came out as bisexual in November and co-wrote the song.

@dialednine I don’t think it’s either! From what I’ve seen Victoria Monét is openly bisexual! I think ari put that lyric in to support Victoria but also I could be wrong on that so don’t take my word on it!

However, this led to people accusing Ariana of queerbaiting, something that she's been accused of in the past.

Fans immediately came to her defence though, claiming that Ariana couldn't win.

The whole drama also brought up a conversation about labels, considering Ariana didn't explicitly say she was bisexual.

also, calling ariana bi when she isn’t calling herself anything is ugly. she could consider herself pan. she might not want a label. maybe ask her ab how she views her sexuality instead of just assigning one to her.

dont forget that ariana might be bi but she could also still be figuring herself out/exploring and she might not label herself yet . she could be trying it out feel comfortable expressing it thru music

Suspect in Nipsey Hussle Shooting Is Identified as Vigil Ends With Stampede - The New York Times

At least 19 people were injured at a makeshift memorial for the slain rapper Nipsey Hussle in Los Angeles on Monday night, as a stampede broke out when mourners tried to flee the area.

It was not immediately clear what had caused the panic. Chief Michel Moore of the Los Angeles Police Department said on Twitter that initial reports of shots being fired were inaccurate.

Margaret Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department, said at least 19 people had been transported to hospitals, including two in critical condition and two in serious condition. One of the patients in critical condition was hit by a car.

“The majority of the injuries are minor and as a result of trampling injuries from the crowd,” she said.

Hundreds of fans had been gathered outside the Marathon Clothing store, where mourners paid tribute to the rapper throughout the day.

Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom, was fatally shot outside the store he owned on Sunday. An autopsy found he had been shot in the head and torso.

Late Monday, the Los Angeles Police Department identified Eric Holder, 29, of Los Angeles, as a suspect in the shooting, which injured two other people. He was last seen in a white 2016 Chevy Cruze.

Nipsey Hussle’s death was felt deeply in Crenshaw, the neighborhood where he grew up and maintained a regular presence after becoming a Grammy-nominated artist. His fans said he offered hope, advocated self-improvement and financially invested in the community, which has long struggled with violent crime. He opened a co-working space dedicated to increasing diversity in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and planned to meet Monday with police officials to discuss ways to prevent gang violence.

His debut studio album, “Victory Lap,” was nominated for best rap album at the Grammys last year and debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard chart. He had two children, Kross and Emani.

Authorities on Monday released the name of the suspect who shot and killed rapper Nipsey Hussle and injured several others in a shooting at a strip mall in South Los Angeles on Sunday.

The suspected gunman has been identified as Eric Holder, a 29-year-old Los Angeles resident with gang ties, according to a news release by the Los Angeles Police Department.

He remained at large and is wanted for homicide, the release said.

The suspect walked up to three adult males – including Hussle -- who were standing in front of a business in a strip mall in South Los Angeles around 3:20 p.m. Sunday and opened fire, the release said.

The Los Angeles Times cited law enforcement sources who said Holder was an acquaintance of Hussle and they had gotten into a dispute before the shooting.

The suspect then fled the scene in a white 2016 Chevy Cruz that was driven by an unidentified female accomplice, according to the release. The vehicle’s California license plate was reported to be 7RJD742.

Two of the victims were transported to local hospitals for their injuries, the release said. Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, died at the scene.

A vigil for Hussle erupted into chaos on Monday after an unknown violent incident had provoked a stampede of people and multiple injuries. Early reports blamed the eruption on shots being fired but LAPD later said those reports were not accurate.
